SPRING LECTURES AND WINE TASTING TO COME

LECTURE: Friday April 21st 2023, at 6.30pm

The history of French gastronomy: from Prehistory through the 17th century” presented by Marie-Claude Freeland. This lecture will be in English.

Location: Brooks Hall Auditorium, Samford University, 812 Montaigue Drive, Homewood, Alabama.

WINE TASTING: Dégustation de vins français: Friday March 10th, 2023, 6.30 to 8pm.

All hors-d’oeuvre will be supplied by the Alliance because no food may be brought in from outside the store.

Members will pay $5 at the door ($10 for member couples). If you bring a guest or if you have only an individual membership but want to bring your spouse/ partner, we will collect $20 per extra guest, as we have been doing before. Please bring CASH (hopefully exact change) to make the check-in go quickly.

Le Roussillon by Michel Delcros (Lecture in French):

Michel Delcros, will focus on Le Roussillon, located in southeastern France. It is part of French Catalonia, featuring Perpignan as its former capital. Michel will describe Le Roussillon’s Catalan culture and traditions, historical monuments, and cuisine. He will also elaborate on Perpignan, which he calls: “Le centre du monde”. Michel is always full of good humor and “galejades” (tall tales) that you are bound to enjoy.

Ms Fatoumata Sidibe, a Belgo-Malian author, businesswoman, and former member of Belgian parliament for 10 years will give a presentation, in French, about:

“Afro-descendant(e)s et participation politique en Belgique: quels enjeux et quels defis?”

On Friday, September 23rd 2022 from 6.30 to 8.30pm:

The Alliance is happy to host another wine-tasting at Greenwise, in Lane Parke, Mountain Brook at 1000 Jemison Lane.

All hors-d’oeuvre will be supplied by our organization because no food may be brought in from outside the store.

Members who have paid their dues may come at no cost, but if they bring a guest or if they have only an individual membership but want to bring a spouse/ partner, we will collect $20 per extra guest since this is an expensive event. We also must receive your firm RSVP by 9pm Wednesday, September 21 in order to know how much wine and food to purchase.
