Local Birmingham French Events
and Meetups

Join us for any of our upcoming local Birmingham French events and meetups, organized by the Alliance Française of Birmingham, the only nonprofit French organization in Alabama.

The Alliance is also a gateway to the Birmingham area Francophone community.  We can put you in touch with people who organize French events that are not associated with our Alliance; for example:  a twice-a-month French conversation group, and an annual trip to France in March organized by a former Alliance President.  For information, please click the contact button above and fill out the form.  (On the mobile website version, click contact in the three-bar menu and fill out the form.)

Keynote Speaker Conferences

The topics of these stimulating lectures include French and Francophone culture, literature, and cinema. We typically offer one lecture per month during the school year.

Holiday Celebrations

We gather to celebrate Bastille Day (a French national holiday, or Fête Nationale, on or around July 14th each year.) Our members and visitors enjoy plenty of French food, conversation, and fun. Our annual Christmas party is a beloved tradition, with traditional food that members bring to celebrate the end of the year.

Wine Tastings

We organize wine tastings, which are always well attended. Please consider joining us!

French Conversation Tables

We meet at different restaurants around town to speak French with each other. While the Table is not associated with the Alliance, it is attended by a lot of our members. All levels of French speakers are welcome! Usually multiple levels are in attendance; some are intermediate speakers, some are native speakers, and some are beginners who just wish to listen and learn. To participate: Please complete the Contact Us form for more information.
