Can you tell me more about the Alliance Française of Birmingham? (i.e. its purposes, history, membership etc)
The Alliance Française of Birmingham is a local 501(c)(3) non-profit cultural organization promoting French language and culture and fostering friendship between Americans and people of Francophone countries. The Alliance has over 100 members in the Birmingham area. The Alliance of Birmingham is affiliated to the Federation of Alliances Françaises (USA) under the leadership of the Délégation Générale of the Alliance Française of Paris an umbrella organization registered in Washington, DC. This network has over 130 chapters in the USA. The Alliance Française of Paris is the owner of the trademark and has a network of several hundred Alliances in the world. In Birmingham, the Alliance organizes lectures in French or in English and social gatherings, gives books and other prizes to students, and also (awards educational and travel) scholarships.
When do we leave and return? What time do we leave Birmingham and by what carrier?
We leave for Paris on Saturday, March 11, 2017, and come back to Birmingham
on Sunday evening, March 19, 2017. We will roundtrip on regular scheduled
airlines most likely either Delta or Air France (Flights numbers and times
subject to changes)
Are some other tours available?
We offer an optional tour of Paris by night ($50.00) on Sunday, March 12, 2017. After dinner at famous Parisian restaurant Chartier (meal NOT included) we will tour Paris by night in a comfortable bus.We will hit the famous spots of Paris and finish at the plaza of the Trocadero with view of the illuminated Eiffel Tower. (Tour of Paris by night will be cancelled if not enough participants.)
Do we have to pay for the optional tour prior to departure?
THE OPTIONAL TOURS HAVE TO BE PAID PRIOR TO DEPARTURE BUT DO NOT SEND PAYMENT FOR THE TOURS WITH YOUR BALANCE FOR THE TRIP. You will pay for the tours at the first pre-trip meeting.

You will have a telephone in your room. You can also leave the email address of Serge Bokobza firstname.lastname@example.org. Remember you do not dial the first zero when you dial a French number from the United States.
We will have two pre-trip meetings at the UAB Humanities Building
(900 13th Street South, Birmingham, AL 35294). Dates and times will be
announced. Those of you who do not have a roommate but wish for one will
be able to meet other participants looking for a roommate as well. We
will go over different aspects of the trip from changing money to restaurants
in Paris. Please bring your questions.
